  1. Intrinsic Dynamics: The Ricardian Equivalency Controversy, Financing Desirability
  2. Budget Deficit, Money and Bond Financing
  3. Open Economy Macroeconomics: Standard Mundell/Fleming Model, Fixed and Flexible Exchange Rates, Exchange Rate Expectations
  4. School of Macroconomics: Classicals vs  Keynesians, Monetarists, New Classicals and Real Business Cycle, New Keynesians
  5. Stabilization Policies

Purpose of the Course

 

(Learning Outcomes)

 

To fill the gap between intermediate texts and the advanced analysis found in the economic theory journals. Attempt to teach macroeconomics by schools and methods. This courses cover selected major areas of modern macroeconomics. One objective is to expose students to both theoretical approaches and analytical techniques. In addition, the module will provide students with an understanding of applied macroeconomic research. Much of the reading will be from original articles in research journals.
