I. GENERAL
INFORMATION
The Department of Economics
was founded in 1967 by Prof. Dr. Osman Okyar. In 1982, the department became a
part of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. We have started
offering the undergraduate program since 1969, the Master of Arts program since
1973, and the Ph.D. program since 1976.
There are
several subfields in the department: Economic Theory, Economic Policy, Economic
History, and Economic Development and International Economics.
Since 1993,
we started offering the undergraduate program in English as well. English is
the teaching language in this program. Those who fail the proficiency exam in
English have to take 1-year preparation courses before registering the field
courses.
The
department aims to graduate young economists to be employed in both private and
public sectors.
